Kayce G is 5!

Posted by Dawn Grimm on Friday, January 27, 2012

I have had every intention of writing this for the past 1 1/2 weeks, but given the lack of extra time these days, I’m lucky I am getting the chance to write it now!  So, better late than never!

Wow, Kayce G, it is really hard to believe that you are 5 years old already!  These past five years have seriously gone by so fast.  From the very start you have been the most easy going little guy I have ever known.  You have always just gone with the flow, no matter what comes your way.

You are such a sweet and affectionate big brother.  You and Conor are literally the best of friends and play together all day long.  Yes, you fight, but what siblings don’t have a little fight every now and again?  When Conor takes his afternoon nap, you must ask me a few times how much longer he will be sleeping for.  I am so happy that the two of you are so close, I hope that it will always be this way!  And you absolutely adore the twins.  You talk to them, sing to them, give them toys, have helped hold a bottle every now and then.  I love how you always ask, “which guy is this one?”.   I think that is just the cutest question.

Fun Facts:  You weigh 40.5 lbs, are 3 feet 7 inches tall.  Both of which are in the 50th percentile.  Your friend you talk about the most from school is Joe.  Sounds like you guys always have fun together.  You absolutely love to color and cut.  There was one day that you literally did this for about 8 hours!  You must have cut out 100 things that day, but you loved every minute of it.  I don’t really watch other kids your age color and cut, but to me it is remarkable.  You color within the lines and cut on the exact lines, which I find amazing.  You love to play on your leapster.  I still think dinosaurs and bugs is your favorite thing to play with.  Some close seconds being playing with trains and building with blocks.  I love the way you say ‘11′ and finally got it on video the other day.  Your favorite food is pizza.  Your favorite treats are oreos or ‘Daddy’s chippies’  (sour cream and onion pringles).  Your favorite tv shows these days are Backyardigans and Invader Zim, but more often than not you are asking us to turn off the tv because it is play time!!  You don’t take naps anymore, on the rare occasion that we give you a nap, we end up paying for it at bedtime because then you aren’t tired and get up for many miscellaneous things!  You love when people come over to visit and I usually get the question every morning, ‘is anyone coming over today?’.  You have an amazing memory and can recall the smallest of details ( something that you definitely got from Daddy!).  For example last week you talked about there being toys at Daddy’s work, and you haven’t been there in almost 3 years!!  You have such a happy smile, one can’t help but to smile along with you.  You are such a pleaser.  You do not like to do anything wrong that you might get in trouble for.

You have taught me so much about what is important in this life.  I love you more than you will ever know!  Happy Birthday!

Love, Mommy

The Best of Friends

Posted by Dawn Grimm on Thursday, January 26, 2012

The other day I was taking a shower and I hear Kayce come running down the hallway yelling ‘Mommy!  Mommy!’ like something was wrong.   When I asked him what was wrong he asked, “Where is my birthday money?  I’m gonna give it to Conor cuz he wants to get angry birds (stuffed animals).  He can just use my money to buy them.”  Conor comes down the hallway carrying two $10 dollar bills and Kayce goes, “is that enough money?”.  I tell him it isn’t enough to buy all of them, so he asks, “do I have anymore birthday money to give Conor?”.

During all of this Conor is going to the bathroom and gets his pants a little wet and Kayce tells him, “Conor, I will help you get new undies and pants, come on!”

Kayce Turns 5

Please enjoy this video compilation I made of Kayce’s first 5 years of life. I had all the intentions of getting this done way back when for his first birthday….but I think this actually worked out better.

It’s intended to be watched with the lights turned off and the volume turned up.
